Thales Unveils New Functions on its Award Winning Future Cockpit
Thales, a leading manufacturer for cockpit systems, has unveiled state-of-the-art innovations to its revolutionary interactive cockpit design, ODICIS, which seeks to shape the future of commercial and military avionics platforms. ODICIS at the Farnborough Air Show displayed all relevant information in a simpler, clearer fashion on a larger and more legible display, to ease workload and complexity.
With its touch-screen based display, ODICIS enables information to be presented in new ways across all types of aircraft. The new technology draws on applied research work undertaken for the Cockpit 3.0 initiative and creates a crew-centric system with simpler, more instinctive human-system interfaces. This allows the pilot to focus fully on the job of flying the aircraft, while keeping the entire display on screen.
Thales’ futuristic cockpit concept introduces state-of-the-art functions, in order to comply fully with demands from high profile development programmes such as SESAR/NextGen and Clean Sky, which aim to script the future of aviation.
