New Inspector General for SSB Kolkata Frontier |

Sunil Kumar Gautam, IPS, took over the charge of Inspector General Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Kolkata Frontier on 1 April, 2011. Gautam is a well accomplished AGMU Cadre Officer of 1989 batch and has served in Goa as Supritendent of Police North Goa District (1992-97) and deputy commissioner of Police (1997-2003) in Delhi Police and as AIG Adm. (2003-05) in Arunachal Pradesh Police.
He joined SSB as DIG and took over Operations, in July 2005 and then moved on to take over as DIG (Pers) from June, 2006. In December 2010, he was promoted to the rank of inspector general and took charge of training and recruitment. He has been awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services in 2007 and Special Duty Medal for serving in hard area. Among the prominent courses he attend are, ‘Third High Level Management Course at Centre of Excellence for Stability of Police Units’ Vicenza, Italy. He also attended the prestigious ‘50th NDC Course’ at National Defence College in New Delhi.
The Kolkata Frontier formally comes into existence with S.K. Gautam taking over
the charge of inspector general. The new frontier has been carved out of |

Sashastra Seema Bal’s Patna & Guwahati Frontier. The frontier has three Sector
Headquarters at Ranidanga, Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) and Gangtok (Sikkim). |
