The Indian government signed the USD2.4 billion contract with French firms Dassault Aviation and Thales to upgrade 50 Mirage-2000H/TH fighter jets on July 29. The upgrade will further enhance the technical and operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force’s Mirage 2000 fleet after integration of latest generation equipment and systems.
There will be extensive involvement of Indian industry within the programme with French aerospace industry. It will reinforce long-term cooperation based on cutting edge technologies and the sharing of technical know-how and expertise, said a joint press release from Thales and Dassault Aviation.
According to the press release, the aircraft represents a long tradition of cooperation with French military aviation, initiated 50 years ago and will further consolidate the long-term strategic partnership between India and France. |
