New Delhi: Saab is offering advanced solutions in the field of air traffic management to Indian airports authority. If we look at today’s operation in this field, the systems are based on the same infrastructure where the monitoring is done in the same old manual fashion, to handle much more complex situations. This step by Saab is to be seen as a fresh initiative by any corporation to address the challenges in the air traffic management. It is called ‘Advanced Remote Tower’. With a pavilion at this year's IFSEC at Pragati Maidan, Saab has showcased this new advancement in India.
The project is managed by the LFV Group in collaboration with Saab and air traffic services in Norway, Estonia and Finland. Saab has developed the technical platform while the LSV Group is

responsible for the operational concepts, validation and safety assessments.
The technique is to operate an airport tower remotely via the digital network. Compressed data from cameras at the airport presents a 360-degree real time view of the airport at the remote tower centre (RTC). The controller working position is fitted with the same controls as in a normal tower. |
